Ujima Eshe, is a positive peer culture designed intervention offered in the form of a support group for specifically for Youth. This focused support group activity addresses HIV/STI, SUD, and mental health education, prevention, and behavioral change; inclusive of life issues, stressors and peer pressure that could lead to unhealthy choices, mental health challenges and substance and Opioid use disorders; offer insight into challenges that can lead to SUD or other mental health issues or that impact recovery. The group will also feature alternative methods of managing stressors to avoid substance use or recurrence; using mindfulness techniques, and open discussion regarding current issues facing where youth direct group level counseling services and both peer support and referral services may be warranted. Youth will also learn ways to support family and other community members address SUD, OUD (includes Narcan education and distribution), and STUD along with other mental health concerns in ways that are life affirming and address issues of stigma and stigma prevention; these activities are designed to work with and augment whole person health strategies for youth aged clients.
